Frances,
Many thanks for your illuminating and instant reply!
Charles Tubman was named as the "bro" of Thomas Tubman, [see Old Malew bun 3 12 1690 / 1688], so Chas being named as John Norris' brother-in-law [h/o Salisbury als Taubman] gives us confirmation of four extant siblings in 1662 of a Tubman family whose mother was still alive. Richard was Chas' son & heir, but he died in Oct 1669 [no issue?], so Elizabeth / Bessy as eldest daughter inherited the debt-ridden estate [her mother Jane als Garret died in 1684]. Charles' mother must have died before 1667/8 when he was selling off land to pay debts. This leaves two possibles - Xtian als Bootle [d.Jun 1664] or Elizth als Middleton [d.Oct 1663]. I have a list of Taubman Wills to look up which includes these, and will do so in the very near future.
