Charles Tubman d.1677/8

The Will of the above gave his children as Richard, Elizabeth, Jane + Margt; his wife Jane als Garrett d.1684 & named children Jane, Margt + Bessie [a Richard Tubman was bd Malew 1669].
In Frances' CD, there is the entry: Lib Canc 1669 69 "Cha Tubman + wife to John Norris at setting of their part [or a mort] of the Whitestone" - also 1669 73: "Cha Tubman to John Norris a mort of Cubbons Croft of 4d rent & four close "@ ib?" & several other bargains between them AFTER THIS" [my caps]
2 questions
1) Does "Mort" = Moiety or Mortgage?
2) Since Chas died in 1667/8, was there a date of the original transaction in either of the above named documents? - or did Chas have a son & heir [not named in either of his parents' wills]? - an entry in the IGI Ancestral File suggests that he did have a son Charles d.1684, but I can find no record in Malew Burials/Wills. [? Frances - can you easily check if there are original dates in the 1669 docs? - if not I will look them up on my next visit to the Island]
In a 1688 document [Old Mal Bun 3, 11] the heiress of Charles was Elizabeth Bridson als Tubman [w/o John] who sold a piece of land to the wife and s-i-l of Thomas Tubman d.1683. The Bridsons had inherited the land but it was wholly encumbered by a mortgage taken out by Charles to his brother Thomas in 1667.
I am currently trying to establish the parents of Thomas Tubman d.1683 and his siblings Salisbury [Norris - my 7x gt gmother], Charles, Katherine and Anne.
