Hi Gary , Sue's ideas on the possibility of him being in the Douglas Industrial Home is feasible , although as you know some 360 children were shipped off to Canada in that period. I have a list of them and the only one sent to Canada was William in 1895 aged 18 , born in Douglas on 25/12/1877 ( ? interesting) and entered the Home 19/2/11890 aged 13.
Could the age be wrong ?? Could he have moved from Canada to the US - plenty did.
