Re: Kneens - Baptismal confusion

It's a bit confusing. I have read, in Brian Lawson's pages, of another baptised as Ewan being known always as Hugh.

I wondered if my Hugh (Ewan/Evan?), as an infant, was called Hugh as a (phonetic) nickname and they decided to formalise it when the subsequent child was baptised?
I am fairly convinced that "Evan" and Hugh are the same person, as I can't find any burial record for an infant Evan. I'd had a thought about "Evan" being baptised ASAP after birth as he was unlikely to survive, while twin Hugh wasn't baptised until the next child arrived, but I'd assume if you had the vicar over to do one, you'd get him to do the other as well, so I'm thinking the twin idea is unlikely.
