Re: ADAM CAINE
In Response To: Re: ADAM CAINE ()

I'm not sure where you derived your bapts from - eg Thomas Corlet had no children in Michael in 1681 - there is a patron submitted entry on IGI (temple ordinance film) for a Thomas + Ann in 1681 - pity is that these entries are not found in original reg (I've def seen Michael Reg and think I also checked Ballaugh) or the official copy - at least they weren't there when I checked
I suspect you (or your researchers) have merely looked at IGI and matched names - many of the patron submissions especially for early entries are at best misreads + at worst pure invention.
You need to look at official copy (or actual reg in near future when the images become available but official copy is very very good) to see the additional notes that help identify the farm as often the mother's name is not given.
You don't appear to use any wills to back up claims of parentage - these are essential.
I've tried to give refs - including deeds + marriage contracts that would not be available off Island.

As I said before many times you have a mix and match family with children drawn from several diiferent parents - as for foster children - you need to show the wills that name the next of kin as supervisors - there is normally an acknowledgement (+ other follow ups) as the children reach lawful age (14yrs) or acquire the property/goods they are due - you appear to have decided that the Ann Cain als Corlet is yours then tried to match children to it - reread my piece on Ballacurleod(later Ballacorlett) - there were 2 Corlet families on 2 adjoining farms - one includes the 1728 will of Thomas (who mentions bro Patk + also nephew Gilbt Corlett)and the other held by Wm Corlet - these were lands of inheritance thus you need account as to how Alice Tear in Jurby gda of Wm came to have it and sell to John Caine miller in 1693 - Ann Corlet who married John was a fairly late marriage (I estimate in her early 30's as only a few children I can match - John her husb is I think the strange 1717 decree which also triggers the 1718 ack etc in his firs wife's will - there are a couple of marriage contracts included in Jurby wills that might help explain how Alice Tear became possessed of the farm originally held by Wm (note that this was land of inheritance)
