I'm descended from Thomas James BRIDSON through his daughter Ann Jane. I suspect that Mary Ann BRIDSON was his sister (christened Emily Mary Ann BRIDSON, born 21/10/1852) though I haven't fully checked this out and doesn't explain why her father is given as James in the IGI record for her marriage to James David HANNAY. I note also that her surname is spelt incorrectly as BIRDSON too. This would however explain the recording of James Alfred (or Alfred James) Hannay as nephew in the 1891 Census. The original marriage entry needs to be checked to confirm if there is an error.
There are also inconsistencies with the Census records for Thomas James BRIDSON's parents (Thomas BRIDSON and Catherine CHRISTIAN). Firstly, there is the recording of Santon (St. Ann) as birthplace of Thomas senior in the 1851 Census. Braddan is shown for 1861 and 1871. Also Catherine becomes Elizabeth for the 1861 Census then reverts back to Catherine in 1871. All rather confusing!
