I am not sure if this helps, but William lists his parents and place of birth here on his marriage registration. They match with the 1881 census on the Isle of Man for putting him about 5 years of age. In the U.S. census of 1910 and 1900, he lists emigration to the U.S. in 1890. It makes him young to come on his own but seemingly so.
Through those census records here in the U.S., he does list his birth year as 1875, so that 1881 IoM census record would have to be correct, also matching his parent’s names with his marriage record listings. Is it likely he put Laxey as his birth town because it was the nearby village, or possible that this where his family had moved if he was still in correspondence? Are there many churches/cemeteries on this part of the island that would still be standing from the time period?
