A confusion of Marks here.

Mark Joughin (1815-1880) son of Daniel Joughin and Ealy (Alice) Joughin of Cronkbane, Bride, mentioned in Donna’s message, married at Michael on 26th April 1864 Elizabeth (Betsy) Caine from Michael. Their only son, Mark Henry Joughin, perished on the foundering of the Ellan Vannin on 3rd December 1909. He was on his way to administer the estate in Iowa of Betsy’s bachelor brother William Caine, a pioneering apple grower who had died there the previous year.

The Mark Joughin who married Mary Kneen als Quayle at Lezayre on 2nd September 1841 was baptised at Bride on 11th June 1784, son of Daniel Joughin and Margaret Christian of the line of Joughins from Crosby, Bride. Mary Quayle and her husbands William Kneen and Mark Joughin figured in the thread about Bruces and Joughins initiated by Ray Bruce and Sue. Prompted by Sue, I wrote about these in my posting of 5th February 2011.
