Well, Sue,
I can tell you do what you really love to do. This is all so fascinating to me that I can post these questions and get answers so readily.
I was a little confused by the reference in "Ramsey 1600-1800" with the text reference to The Flatt being located in Ballacowle as I did an on-line search and could find reference to such in Lonan and Bride. Then, later I found a map on p. 40 of Ramsey et al in the 17 & 18th centuries. I just love this book.
The property of "Cooil Roi" and "The Nook" are off Ballure Road, just south of the Queen's Pier, and I believe that Robert Oates Christian was the first, or one of the first owners. And, now I see that the cottages are "just down the road" from The Flatt.
It is also interesting that on one of my charts Robert Oates Christian (mother-Catherine Oates) is noted as "An Oat of Oatland," which I've found is an area in/near Santan.
