I understand that the name was Darling not Dollin - named after minister - but otherwise what I also understood - however it is not the possibility of a manx decent that I query but the speciific identification of Adam as root based solely on the same birth year for his son patk + the patk buried in USA based on age at death - the two Adams active at this period were in Ballaugh (the gill or Knockan - see my page re Caines of this area - fairly sure all direct male line died out) + in Orrysdale (various spellings) in Michael on border with Ballaugh - again that patrick can be fully traced via land records - some of his male decendants emigrated to Ohio (Hugh cain +_ fam)
I suggest that the Cain's were not directly from the Island but possibly via Ireland where many Manx went around 1680/90 period - the link with baptist nonconformity (not known on Island) also fits better here - another route is via the West Indies + slave trade but usually it was the males and not women who were here.
