The old board info I have in my database, indicated that Demeza started out in Portugal, then went to England, then IOM.
Writer was descendant of William DeMeza

Said Fa William b 1801 and Jane b 1803 both in England.
Some of their children were b in Manchester

Perhaps you need to go to English records?

There are a bunch of Jane Hales b in proper time frame in English IGI.
