“Sacred to the memory of Richard Shimmin, of the Eary, who departed this life the 4 July 1859, aged 55 years.”

And, perhaps Viv can help re Mary Ann, as one of my sources came from her..

Extracted IGI record - Christened 28 Aug 1842 Marown
1851 census – 8 years old (b. 1843)
1861 census – 18 years old (b. 1843)

I was also unable to locate Mary Ann's burial anywhere.

My cousin in Scotland originally indicated that Mary Ann Shimmin died in 1926, however, he did not supply any source.
