Have you looked at US censuses to get his age, how long in the US, how long married, etc? You need all details from US records before starting on IoM ones.

In 1900 there was a Robert Boyde b. IoM with wife Elizabeth and children Harry William John and Nellie living in Santa Ana, Orange, California, but he was b. July 1854.
