Hi Helen,
Re-Reading Caesar Kelly memorial note in Frances'
Manx notebook, (type his name in on her search page and you will see the whole transcript), Caesar died 1910. It says that he was predeceased by his daughter Ms. Camaish whose 2 children are now living with their father in the USA. Now I guess calling her Ms. might suggest that they were indeed formerly separated, not necessarily divorced though thatcould be the case also! Many men went out to the USA hoping to make their fortune in mining and then bring their families out after them. Most were not successful and could neither afford to bring their family out or get back to their homeland. It is also possible that Selina just merely did not want to leave the Island! The life of a miners wife in the new world was far from easy and with at least one young child and no family support I know that I would not have gone back then. I don't know about the Comaish family but Caesar was one of 13 children, I still do not know how many made it to adult life but this branch of the family is still close. I met up with my cousins when I was recently home, all from the Kelly line and we had a blast.
I am sorry that I can't help you more Helen. If I do come across anything I will email you of course.
Good hunting
Sue
