Hi Helen,
Well it is lovely to hear from a distant relative. You have the right family, Celina/Selina M Camaish can be found on the 1881 census living with her mother Celina Emily Camaish who was 24 yrs in Celina Sr parents home 59 Athol St Onchan ( actually Athol street is in Douglas but those days it was sited under Onchan,) Athol street is the centre of the finance district now and the address is probably still there as many of the old buildings still exist. Funnily enough we got back last night from spending the holidays on the Island visitng family and friends. We live in BC now having moved out here from the IOM 15 years ago.
I did at one point find Charles Camaish on the 1880 US census. I found Charles and Celina marriage for 26 Oct 1876 in Patrick Church, no full certificates can be found for this time period.
I really don't have much info on Charles at all. My interest is the kelly side of things so that is where I have focussed my attention.

Though this says Charles' birthplace as Eng many Manx men were stated as being born in Eng on USA census records. I think this is your Charles. He is not on the IOM 1881 census with celina so I think he was in the States mining, foxdale was a mining village on the IOM and this was where Caesar kelly lived and worked(Celina's father worked as a carpenter/joiner). Ceasar's father-in-law was a Captain William Bawden whose family had moved to the IOM from Cornwell and were managers of the Foxdale mines. If you google Foxdale mines you can find out all sorts of interesting facts.

If you follow this thread Helen there is some more info on Charles and siblings possibly, it says he possibly ended up in Silver City,Idaho. I think it is the same Charles. on the plus side of things Camaish was not a common manx name so tracing them should not be too diffcult.

Another lady here is researching our families, I am going to contact her as she states she has a lot about the kelly's which would interest me but she has letter from the Camaish side as well by the sounds of it.
I think that is all I have to date that hopefully will be helpful to you. Let me know how you get on.
Kind regards
Sue
