There is no record of an armada ship being wrecked off the Island - according to historians they sailed to west of Ireland - however those from Port St Mary area are often refered to as Spaniards from their supposedly darker complexion (there is a Spanish head with a similar, though apparently historically unfounded) tale of a wrecked spanish vessell from armada - there was significant trade with Portugal (and probably Spain) in early 18th C (salted herrings) so possible some Iberian blood entered the Island this way.
Your name however is much more likely to come from the North part of the Island than from the south.
