These are all unfounded and as "he has for some time past been opposing Govt, and raising disturbances in a very idle manner I thought it right to let him see that I had it it in my power to return his compliments". "The papers he sent to you are a bundle of nonsense from beginning to end". Capt. Lidderdale,at Peel,did his duty honestly and faithfully, and not like "that poor drunken body Capt, Murray who suffered the merchants to do what they pleased". |

These goods are bought in Holland because they cannot be obtained in England,and if their transhipment in the Island is stopped in this manner it will be greatly to the Duke's detriment, He is asked to do something about it. + Duke to Tarleton He would be glad to do what he can, but would like some further information. |
