This question should not have been submitted to the Att.Gen, without his permission. |

Gov.Cochrane to Duke.Funds are hard to get in, trade having been much hampered by "a plague of Tenders and Cutters pressing about the Island.,.. which for a long time put a stop to all trade" so that he could not press the merchants who "are the bees that bring in the honey". Col.Stuart - now Sir John - has left the Island for Scotland (after being given an advance of £15) "He behaved very well and left without being a farthing in dept". |
