Gov. Cochrane to Duke. He has persuaded the bishop to retain Mr. Ross,the Schoolmaster, who it was said was to be dismissed because of his age. Various clerical changes. The Bishop (Wilson) "is very old and forgets his promises very soon", The case of "the Widow" which the Keys seem determined to keep putting off. "I treat the Keye with all the good manners on my power but nothing would please them except I would give up your Grace's rights...which shall never be done by me except upon your orders".(widow was Mrs. Stevenson N.M.)

Several seizures have recently been made by the Govt.sloops but upon application to the Customs in Ireland the goods have been returned to the merchants in the Island to whom they belonged... He has had a lot of company (named) including a number of ladies "all charming fine women,but to my great misfortune none of them would agree to stay here to be Governess".
