[This second edition is identical to the first edition of 1883 except for an update to reflect the new shipping lines that briefly completed with the IoM Steam Packet Company.]
Frontispiece - "Douglas"
[This guide book is unusual in that it contains but 2 illustrations (and one is a simple line drawing) - it does however have detailed plans of the four major towns which have been redrawn from the 1868 O/S plans but with some attempt to reflect later developments though these additions are not always accurate e.g. the Peel plan placed the "New Church" (now the Cathedral) in the wrong place. The 3rd edition of 1893 had updated plans and also additional regional maps]
