Peeltown n the name of God Amen I Margaret Maddrell late of the Town of Liverpool in the county of Lancashire and Kingdom of Great Britain but now of Peeltown in the Isle of Man widow being of sound mind, memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following I will oder and direct that in case I shall die in the said Island that my corps is to be burried in Peel Castle along with my ancestors, as free from funeral pomp or parade as possible, by my executor or excutors here in after named. First I give and bequeath unto my brother John Wattleworth the sum of fifty pounds British Item I bequeath unto my sister Jane Graves the sum of fifty pounds British, Item I give and bequeath unto the children of Mr Joseph Christian of the Strand linnen draper London by Margt Christian his present wife the sum of two hundred pounds British to be paid unto them in equal portions as they respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years Item I leave and bequeath unto Elizabeth and Ann Jeal daughters of my niece Dorothy Jeal deceased the sum of fifty pounds British each and in the case of the death of either of them that the legacy so left her is to become the property of the survivor. And in case of the death of both of them before they arrive at the age of twenty one years then I give and bequeath the said sums so left them unto the children of the said Joseph Christian by the said Margt his wife. Item I give and bequeath unto my niece Elizabeth Wattleworth spinster the sum of one hundred pounds British I give and bequeath unto my niece Elizabeth Corrin the sum of one hundred pounds British. Item I give and bequeath unto my niece Margt Alexander wife of John Alexander of the Kingdom of Ireland Merchant the sum of one hundred pounds British. And I do hereby cancel annul and make void the said John Alexander's note of hand to me bearing date the fifth day of Octr one thousand seven hundred and seventy six for the sum of fifty pounds. Item I give and bequeath unto the children of Charles Radcliffe my nephew, by Frances Radcliffe his late wife the sum of one hundred pounds British to be paid unto them in equal portions as they respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years. And in case of the death of any of them before the said age, that his, her or their share or shares of the said legacy is or are to fall and become the property of the survivor or survivors. And in case of the death of all of them before the said age of twenty one years then the said sum of one hundred to become the property of my executor or executors here after named. Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew William Corrin of Castletown the sum of twenty pounds British. And I hereby cancel annul and make void his, the said Wm Corrin's note of hand to me for twenty one pounds dated [blank]. Item I give bequeath unto Margt Graves the daughter of my nephew Henry Graves the sum of one hundred pounds British Item I give and bequeath unto my niece Mrs Margt Christian wife of Joseph Christian before mentioned my gold watch with the trinketts thereunto appertaining Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew Henry Gr[aves] the sum of one hundred pounds British & I do hereby cancel & make void his the sd Henry [] two sevl notes of hand passed unto me bearing dates respectively the seventh and eighth days of May o[ne] thousand seven hundred and seventy nine amount[] together to the sum of one hundred and forty three pounds. And I do also herby exonerate acquit and discharge him the said Henry Graves of and from all sum and sums of money & chattells & effects which he may have from time to [] received from me or upon my account from any person or persons whatsoever unto the day of the date of this my last will and testament. And that it shall not be with in the power of my executor or executors herein after named to bring him to any account or settlement for the same or any part thereof. Item I do give and bequeath unto my nephew Wm Graves the sum of one hundred pounds British and I do hereby cancel annul and make void his the sd Wm Grave's two several notes of hand to me bearing dates respectively of the seventh and the twenty eighth day of May one thoudand seven hundred and seventy seven amounting together to the sum of one hundred and seven pounds. Item I give and bequeath to my brother John Wattleworth before named the sum of ten pounds British to be paid him yearly and every year during his natural life and which yearly sum of ten pounds I desire my executor or executors hereinafter named to pay him out of the interest money arriving upon a deed of mortgage which I have upon the estate of Colby [] the parish of Arbory. Item I give and bequeath unto my sister Jane Graves before named the sum of ten pounds British yearly and every year during her natural life and which yearly sum of ten pounds I desire my executor or executors to pay unto her out of the residue of my estate and effects. I also give and bequeath unto my said sister Jane Graves all my black waring apparel of what kind or denomination soever. Lastly I give devise and bequeath all and singular my houses and lands of what kind or nature soever whether in possession traversion ? or expectancy or remainder and every part and parcel thereof together with all my plate rings jewels books pictures china wearing apparel of every kind or denomination soever save and except what is already bequeathed unto my sister Jane Graves and all my furniture beds bedding table linnen and all the residue and remainder of my estate and effects whether real or personal unto my two nephews Joseph Christian and Henry Graves their heirs and assigns for ever. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint them the said Joseph Christian and Henry Graves my joint whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament, revoking all former will or wills by me made at any time heretofore And I do thereby make publish and declare this to be my only last will and testament - In witness whereof to this will contained in three whole sheets of paper the five first pages I have subscribed my name and the sixth and last I have subscribed my name and affixed my seal the fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four. Margaret Maddrell Signed sealed published and declared by the testator Margt Maddrell as her last will & testament in the presence of us who at her desire subscribe their names & in the presence of each other Robt Moore John Gell James Cowin At a consistory court holden in Peeltown on Saturday the thirty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four by the Rev John Moore and Ewan Christian Vicars general and judges of the Ecclal Court of this Isle and Dioces [of] Sodor and Mann Robt Moore John Gell and James Cowin the subscribing witnesses to the before written will of Margt Maddrell made oath upon the Holy Evangelists that the testatrix being of perfect sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly executed the same as and for her last will and testament in their presence and that they at her desire and request and in her presence and likewiuse in the presence of each other subscribed their names as witnesses thereto. And Joseph Christian and Henry Graves the excrs therein named are thereupon sworn well and truely to fulfil the said last will and testament of the testratrix by paying all her just debts and legacirs so far forth as her goods & effects will extend and the law shall bind them and to be faithfull and just to each other in the division of the residum of the estate and effects of the said Margaret Maddrell and to these ends the said Joseph Christian hath given pledges in form of law namely Thos Wattleworth Mercht and Chas Cooper gentleman both of the said town of Peel and the said Henry Graves hath likewise given pledges to the above ends in form of law namely Robt Cowin of Knockaloe beg in the parish of Kk Patrick yeoman and Samuel Cowill Junr of the parish of Kirk German yeoman Probatum est Joh Moore Ev Christian A true copy of the original exd by me John Crellin Epl Regtr Note the original will transmitted to the Perogative Court of York.
There is also attached to the will a copy of a long affadavit that gives details of her first marriage
To all whom these presents shall come Allyn Simmons Smith of Battersea in the county of Surrey esquire and Mary Smith, Ann Smith and Sarah Smith of the same place spinster daughters of the said Allyn Simmons Smith send greeting. Whereas William Smith heretofore of Battersea in the county of Surrey gentleman, decd, in and by his last will and testament in writing bearing date on or about the fifteenth day of February one thousand seven hundred and forty three did after directing his just debts legacies funeral charges and expences and making the sevl bequests therein contained thereby order and direct that all the residue of his personal estate that he should die possessed of should be forthwith turned into money and invested and laid out in Government or other good securitys and that Margaret Smith his then wife afterwards Margaret Maddrell the wife of John Maddrell formerly of Battersea aforesaid and afterwards of Liverpool in the county of Lancaster, merchant, decd, should have and receive the yearly dividend interest and proceeds thereof to her own proper use and benefit for her life and after her decease he gave and bequeathed such residue of his personal estate to the said Allyn Simmons Smith by the description of his nephew and to his niece Michabel Allyn Simmons Smith late Michelabel Roebuck the wife of Ebenezeer Roebuck of Croydon in the county of Surrey gentleman deceased to be equally divided between them ...

Her grandfather Archdeacon Samuel Wattleworth, his parents and uncle Charles Wattleworth were buried in the Cathedral, possibly more of her family were buried there as well.
