"The last will and testament of Ann McHood als Cain late of the town of Douglas but now residing in KK Patrick, made this 26th November 1756, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory. She first committed her soul to God and her body to Christian burial. Item, she left and bequeathed unto each of her brother Jamess children vizt. Cath. Moore, Ann Cain & Richard Cain one crown and a feather bed apiece legacy. She left unto her brother Thomas Cain half a crown legacy. And lastly she nominated constituted and appointed her brother the Revd. Robert Radcliffe sole executor of all the rest of her goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever. Witnesses: John Callin, Catharine Cottier als Quay, Marjery Christian.

FPC: A John and Ann Mahood are noted in the 1730 list of Douglas householders A John McHood is noted as occupying a new pew in Douglas Chapel, 1735 John McHood died 1742 (will 1742 Braddan in which he mentions wife Ann but no children).
A 1720 will of Elizabeth McHood (als Smith) mentions sons Hugh, Daniel and John, half sister Sarah White and sister Esther Smith.
The name is various spelled McHood, McWood,McWhud, M'Hud, M'Hood, McCudd and finally Cudd. eg a John McHood married Elizabeth Skillicorn at Braddan 21 Jul 1759 but in Braddan MI's she is described as Elizabeth Cudd als Scillicorn..
