Peeltown 1701
In the name of God, Amen. I Catherine Gell als Thompson
being sick & weak in body, but of perfect mind & memory, do [o.]
make this my last will & testament in manner & form following
First I commit my soul to God my creator, & my body to Xtian
burial. Itt I leave to ye poor of ye town 5s. Itt I leave
to my husband £20 out of our whole goods, & ye whole of his
father's sallary ; by wch he has consented to cut himself of from
any more right to claim to ye rest of ye goods & moneys. Besi[de]
I leave him half an ox & half a small heiffer yt is at Ballacallin
with what sheep there is. Itt I leave to him his own
bed as I recd it with a new coverlet & pair of sheets of my
own. Itt I leave half of ye boat & half of ye netts to my sd
husband. Itt I leave him his desk & chess [chest], with what boards &
wheel rimbs there are in ye house, after my coffin is made.
Itt I leave him ye crop of his own garden, with half of ye
roots & cabbage of ye parXnoy ? garden. Itt I leave to Rich
Thompson 40s out of ye £3 he owes me & he is to pay ye
other 20s to his sister Elinor; & what he claims from me
is to be stopt in ye sd 40s. Itt I leave to my grandson
James Young £6 out of my half of ye house yt was due to
ye children with all ye standing goods in ye sd house. Itt I
leave to my daughter in law Majery ye choice of my three
keeres. Itt I leave my son David 30s out of what is due to Elinr
to cut him off any right he claims by legacys or debts from me.
Itt I leave him a silver spoon as legacy. Itt I leave half-crown
a piece to my grandchildren Rich & Alexander Young, Itt I leave
to my daughter Ann a furnished feather bed & four pound in money,
with a silver spoon. Itt I leave to my daughter Margt four
pounds & a silver spoon, if she lives after her first child, otherwise
to return to my exors. Itt I leave to my daughter Elinor ye
brewing pan in lieu of ye 30s yt was left to David out
of her goods. Itt I leave to Ann & Eubonia 10 yds of serge
betwixt ym for petticoats with a handkerchief to Ann wch she
gave me herself. Itt I leave to Eubonia & Elinor half of ye
boat & netts in lieu of what they may claim in ye part of
ye house left to my grandson James. And likewise Margt &
Ann is cut off from any claimnof ye sd part of ye house, left
to James by what I have above left them. Lastly I leave
& appoint my two daughters Eubonia & Elinor my true & lawfull
Extrxs of all ye rest of my goods moveable & immoveable
wtsoever, & if any of them die before marriage yt then ye
other is to have her goods. And it is my will yt my husband
& son David to be overseers of them. Itt I leave a crown
to Rich Thompson's eldest daughter. Itt I leave to my gdson
James Young a pair of big tripots & ye cubbard
All wch I acknowlege as my last will & testament as witness

15 May 1702 David Young enters agt the
afsd excrs for £5 7 9 & craves the law
15 May 1702 Recd the afsd five shills for my eldestest daughter's use by me Richd Thompson
