Hi David James
Looks like another lucky strike for the Christian/Crow/Corkill lines.
I lost track of Rebecca after she was listed in Maughold Street, Ramsey on the 1851 census. She was aged 48 and her husband William, taylor, was 72 years old.
THere were 5 children listed:
William aged 17, a grocer's apprentice; Jane aged 14; Edward aged 12; John aged 10 & Ann aged 7. All born in Ramsey.
In 1861 at 49 Maughold Street there was a William Christian aged 27, Ironmonger's assistant, with a wife Jane aged 24 from Peel, and a 1-year old son William, born Ramsey.
Liuving with them was Jane Christian, a sister of the older William, needlewoman, aged 24, b. Ramsey.
I established that Rebecca Christians died in St. Aseph in 1859 and in Eastry in 1867, both in UK, but didn't follow them up. Probably red herrings.
Do you know where Rebecca and the three youngest children disappeared to? Presumably your NZ address gives us a hint??
THere was no death record for Rebecca on the family bible extract in Dianne's family possession.
Cheers
Nigel
