The names in the 1490/1511/1513 Rent Rolls must be often coded and I think we need to look at the succession through from 1511 to 1540 when they are more "modern". eg Kinvig is Begson in the old rolls and it seems an unlikely form. There seem to be a lot of English names spread around which disappear. Names like Wright, Mason, Skinner in the depths of the Gaelic speaking countryside.
Wright is I suppose, Teare, and Mason could be Clague or Teare. Skinner might be Cretney?
Do these names revert back later?
Then there are names like Woods, supposed to be Garrison families, but could they be Caley or Kelly?
