to set the record straight - No I didn't set it up - it was set up as a free gift by the erstwhile owner of the first isle-of-man site well over a decade ago - he also offered to host my Manxnotebook which was very useful as I could see problems on my retirement from university.
He also offered a site to the iomfhs + some effort went into moving data there + setting up a members board - however iomfhs was not really interested in computing (in fact decidely antagonistic in some quarters) and the members mb became a mere duplicate of this board (I'm afraid fam historians at times act like graffitti artists - any blank site is fair game), when the maintainer of the society section moved, that part of the site went into suspended animation
- following suggestions by both Sue & I the two boards were merged so that we could manage a single site (I'm not convinced that there actually is a need for more than one manx board but that decision is not mine)- the iomfhs about 2 yrs ago set up their own site -
until Paul jumped in, there was NO involvement from the society in this MB nor any offer of help - all moderation has been done by Greg, Sue and myself - until Paul posted the his first message in this thread he had no involvement whatsoever in the MB - both Sue and I have had earlier contact with David Le Provost - - I suggested they try to match the simplicity of this MB in any proposed new board, some development was proceedingbut wanting to keep the archives was something of a stumbling block in moving to a new MB
