Re: SKILLICORN family of RAMSEY

Frances & Lois - thanks to you both for the information, I do feel that my 'Thomas' is the son of a Philip, as at his marriage in Lezayre one of the witnesses was a Philip Skillicorn. Looking through the Lezayre marriage register for a few pages either side of the entry for Thomas Skillicorn & Anne Moore there were no other instances of Philip Skillicorn being a witness. The other witness was William Cowley and seems to appear quite regularly. I could not work out if this Phillip was a brother or father. Then the fact that Thomas and Anne did not name their second son Philip seems at odds with his father being Philip, especially as there is also a Thomas son of Thomas who could be the other candidate. There is also the fact that our 'Thomas & Anne' did not name their second daughter either Judith or Cath. Anne Moore being the daughter of Robert Moore and Cath Keen. Perhaps the same naming patterns do not apply on the Island as they do in England, which is the only research that I have any real experience of. Thanks again for your help, any further comments or suggestions welcome.
