Jean is absolutely correct that Eleanor Clague als Gelling is the daughter of Robert Gelling and Jane Kelly, md 1770. She is also the granddaughter of John Gelling (d 1812) and Catharine Killey (d 1806) of Ballamillaghyn.
The 1812 will for John is his. The 1737 will for John is the next generation back. This John died young, when John Jr was only about 15. Since he was the only son, they must have been worried about ensuring succession, because he was married at (presumably) age 17 to Catherine Killey, a woman close to 10 years older. They had a dozen children and lived to great age, which subsequent John's did too.
The 1733 will for John Gelling of Ballamillaghyn is the next generation back again. He had two Johns, which wasn't unusual in those days when they wanted to be sure of succession. That's as far as I've gone back, so far.
All these wills are transcribed on the Will list and make fascinating reading.
One question re Elenor Gelling. She was bp 9 Sep 1787 and she married Thomas Clague 11 Feb 1804. If these dates are right, she was only 16. I counted 10 children going up to 1830. Which one is your ancestor?
