I haven’t found a baptism or a marriage for John either that might help match him up with Hugh. To confuse matters, or me at least, there is a Thomas in the IGI who could also show as 17 in 1841, who additionally has a marriage record at Braddan. As there seemed to be no further reference to John and no sign of Thomas in 1841 I had previously wondered if John/Thomas could be the same person somehow:
