The marriage transcript only has the two names and the date - there was rarely any other information given at that time in the par reg.

But you are right - it indicates that there were two John Cannells in Maughold in early 1700, but no records for them in Maughold in the 1600s. It was never a common name in Maughold. There is no connection shown between these (two?) John Cannells and the one who was recorded as from Lonan and who married Christin Christian of Ballafayle in 1741.

Those Lezayre bapts are wrong (please see my message to Tim) - Christin's father was William of Ballafayle (land records), and she was his heiress.
