Re: Lordship of Man under the Stanleys- want a loo

There are several references to a handful of John Quayles, but none that directly mention Lezayre.

There is a John Quayle who in 1695 "entered fifty yards of scotch linen in a small boat at Ramsey"

A John Quayle of Castletown (no specific date given) to whom "Thomas Quay of Meary, Santan, sold three 'sives' of barley" to at "9d above the rate in April and subsequently compounded his crime by 'wilfully and obstinately refusing to shewe his store of Corne to the foure men apointed and sworne in that parish and the two soldiers by command and warrent from the governor"

In September 1691 John Quayle of 'Clychurr' Malew was presented "for a sack of 'metcorn' which they found to be 'not well dryed, loomed nor cleaned' and quite unfit for sale"

"In the last decade of the sixteenth century John Cure and John Quayle both of Douglas, owned a boat of unspecified type and made several shipments through that port."
