should have added 'North Britain' was the politically correct term for Scotland after the Act of Union - the intent was to meld the two countries (Scotland and England) into a single 'Great Britain' - you will find it quite widely used. Manx land was relatively cheap c. 1800 as the Napoleonic wars meant that food prices were higher and several Scottish families moved across - many came upstuck in the agricultural depression following the end of the war c. 1820.
