Re: William Kneale- Lonan
In Response To: Re: William Kneale- Lonan ()

Eric

Prior to the William shown below the only information upwards I had was from this board. Shown below is what I had:

William Kneale- Lonan (had had an earlier wife)
(1) Wife unknown
Child Joseph Kneale born Lonan
married Isabella Kelly in 1825
Married (2) Ann Farragher 16 June 1806 Lonan
several children (including probably another Joseph b1818)

William Kneale's will, which confirmed that the Faragher family property, the mill called 'Mullin Cottage in Laxey gill' in the will, was left to the children of his second wife, who had brought the mill into the marriage. He also left money 'to the poor in the parish in Lonan"

Fathering a child at 16 was not unusual in those days.

Regarding your earlier posting
Lonan Deeds Oct 1777/50
William Kneale to Jane Gelling. This is a marriage contract between Daniel Kneale and his wife Joney Quine on behalf of their son William Kneale and John Gelling of Braddan and Catherine Gelling his wife on behalf of their only daughter Jane."

I would be interested in the content of this as it could perhaps help us both to identify for certain. As I am studying another family line building up a sideways picture of people within their social/ relatives group by generation. If their wedding contract related to a place or person within this group we could be more certain.
