Hi Sue,
glad you found that useful. I note that on Ancestry it says"partial bmd index" so I suppose they must be adding to it all the time. Here is a step-by-step of how I found the record, just in case you want it, tho' I suspect you don't need it.
Using Ancestry: On opening, first page is headed: “Search for Your Ancestors”
Panel on right of screen is headed “Browse Records”
From “Birth, Marriage & Death” I chose “England & Wales, BMD Index”
On the “England & Wales Birth Marriage and Death Indexes 1837-2004”
I selected Partial FreeBMD Indexes & Images 1837-1938,
(“Find the transcribed index records and index image pages for persons before 1910”)
I clicked on Marriages
In the Ranked Search form I filled in Thomas Cleator, Apr-May-Jun quarter 1850
When the list comes up, click ‘View record’ on a likely entry – the first name in this case – and a transcription of the index entry, with volume & page number comes up. (Also on this screen is a panel headed ‘page tools’ at the bottom of which is the option to click and ‘Order Marriage Certificate for Thomas Cleator’)
Clicking on the page number gives you ‘others on same page’ (includes Elizabeth Skillicorn).
Clicking on ‘view image’ lets you see a picture of the actual page so that you can check it yourself.
