In response to Sandra Bell, who is interested in Quiggins east of Cleveland, Ohio. I am looking at a picture of John Quiggin, and his sisters Ellen Boyd and Betsy Clark. Ellen, actually Eleanor, is my great grandmother. The father is (another) John Quiggin, who was a Methodist minister at Barregarrow. He and his wife died on the IOM, and his children having come to the US as adults. I have many letters from John on the IOM to Ellen. Harry is perhaps a son or even a grandson of Ellen's brother. (Ellen's husband was James Boyd, who grew up on the IOM, and came to Ohio on the Erie Canal. He was a dairy farmer.) The community east of Cleveland was called Warrensville. I understand you could hear Manx spoken there longer than you could hear it on the IOM. If anyone is interested, I will try to supply more.
