This surname interests me as a surname study of WIGGIN(s) links it to the surname McQuiggin (Quiggin) in Scotland, Ireland and Isle of Man. I've been searching for a Thomas Quiggin/wiggin b. c. 1590; possibley from IOM. He is thought to have become a sea Captain, but no actual proof yet excepting a couple of documents that can't be solidly linked to him. However, Capt. Thomas Wiggin c. 1590-1666 is my missing link. Any thoughts appreciated as he may have changed the spelling from the Quiggin to the Wiggin to "fit in" with the English Colonials and to take advantage of some very important contacts he was making. Any comments?
