Further work on Santan has indicated that all Moore and Oates + many other records were removed from the parish register batch and redone under patron submitted entries - the original IGI was from the 1911 official transcript which is very clear though the transcriber though keeping the sequence of names has often wrongly ascribed years for the jan/march period of old style years. Most of the missing entries are under a single patron submitted batch - these entries are accurate (ie match the register) but there is another patron batch that is full of errors (wrong month, etc) so some 'patron submitted' are good others are best ignored but there is no quality indicator !

Marriage registers are from my experience more likely to suffer this orwellian rewriting than baptismal records.
