Hi,

I am trying to work out the parentage of Maria Reid who appears in the 1851 and 1861 censuses living with her grandparents John Skeally and Mary Maddrell. From the censuses it appears she was born 1839/40 in Ballaugh.

There is a baptism entry on familysearch for Maria Lousia Sheally, baptised 24 April 1839 Ballaugh, father Thomas Reid, mother Catherine Sheally. This would certainly fit as John and Mary had a daughter Catherine who would have been the right age but it is an odd entry. Even though it is listed under the batch no for Ballaugh it also states "This information was generated from another entry that appears in this index. Look for another entry for this person." Does anyone know what that means? And I checked, there is no other matching entry.

I can find no record of Thomas Reid marrying Catherine Skeally or of either of them in the 1851 census or later.

Would someone be able to check the 1841 census for Maria to find who she was living with at that time? And any other leads, sources, suggestions or advice welcome.
