I have traced my family of BREWs who all lived in the West Derby/Everton area of Liverpool back to Thomas BREW born 1815 who married Frances MATTHEWS in 1845. They were Shoemakers and lived in St. Clement Street. Family lore has it that we originated in the Isle of Man, and I know from the marriage certificate that Thomas's father was also named Thomas and was a Shoemaker, but I can't find any further information on the mainland. This is a forlorn hope that someone researching the BREW name on the Isle of Man may have a relative who moved to Liverpool. Unfortunately Thomas is a fairly common name in the BREW family.
