I was led to believe that the Registry Office in Douglas had no record of my grandparent's marriage and stories were told that despite her parent's objections, my grandmother may have married in a seaman's bethel in Ramsey to what they considered a very unsuitable man in my grandfather! A few days ago I was having a look for something on Brian's web site at the updates on BMD's and I couldn't believe it when there was a record of the marriage of Anastasia Milne and Albert Palmer in 1907 only a few months after his first wife had died - a copy of the cert. arrived by return of post from Douglas Registry and have just posted off a copy to their remaining son. Thank you Brian for giving so much pleasure by your hard work in researching and this goes for the other very helpful people on this site. Brian has also found for me the ships my grandad sailed on and on the cert. his place of residence is actually on the Steamship "Mona" while my grandmother is living at what looks like 9 Christian Street - it didn't say Douglas but I checked and there is such a road. Best of all the info is that when my grandad married Elizabeth Christian in 1890 he said his father was "Robert - labourer" when in fact everyone knew it was "John - mariner" so 17 years later he got it right - still a mystery as to where "Robert" came from!!!! Also a bit ironic that the name of the road was the name of her new husbands previous wife! Again thank you Brian - really appreciate all the hard work and help given by you and the other folk on the board.......Pat
