I am a long-time member of IOMFHS. I buy many of their publications, microfiche, etc. I am in support of folks joining the Society.
I think the Society has been slow to adopt the computer/internet age. Hopefully, this will change.
I am in FULL SUPPORT of access to FHS Journals on Frances' Manx Notebook. Perhaps there could be a rule that only those of the previous yr and before could be on. This shouldn't interfere with membership purchase.
I know they sell old journals. However, unless you buy them blindly--as I have done--you have no idea what is in which journal. I happen to be interested in Manx genealogy in total but I'm in the minority. Most are interested in pursing their specific lines, a few are additionally interested in history.
I think the IOMFHS should embrace Frances and the Manx Notebook as well as this very website.
Clearly, having a bunch of separate sites in the past was ridiculous and we finally got one very successful message board going.
It is time to enter the computer age. It is time to move past any previous conflicts and disagreements.
Let's get on with doing the best job we can for IOM genealogy!!
