Ref Posting by Andrew Burnett Monday Oct 25 6.30pm.
My grandmother Helen (nee Burnett) Cantwell said it was brother Jack (John I Burnett) who went to Japan to advise the Japanese on the manufacture of areated water? Jack was a Boilermaker by trade and had 6 children one of which was Jessie born at sea in the Indian Ocean on the way to Japan on 21st May 1876. This information is confirmed by the 1891 census of England where it can be seen that the whole family are then living at 15 Blair Street, Bootle, Lancashire
Jack obviously spent some time in Scotland as his wife (Margaret)b1856, Daughter Catherine E b1875 and son James b1881? were born in Scotland.
The information I have on James Burnett b c1845 in Scotland (son of James Burnett b1818) is a bit thin no wife's name, no service record, but a reference to a daughter Rachel can anyone provide more detail?
Information on the daughter of James Burnett(b 1818) named as Bella(Isabella?0 is also a bit thin. The only information I have is that she married a Jack Knight.
