I am interested as part of my identifying of William Qualtrough (married Christian Taylor in 1737 Rushen) of the naming of their children as William, Joseph & John.
William & John are common names in the Q family as in many others however this is the first instance of Joseph, who was bn 1743 in Rushen.
There is no instance in 2 generations prior to Christian Taylor of Joseph in the Taylor family, so am wondering if this is a name new to the Qualtroughs.
Is anyone aware of a proliferation of the name Joseph during the first 50 years of the 1700s on the IOM.
