Re: Manx in South Africa post Boer War

Further to my previous post:

Contact wanted with descendants of these families pls, descending from Qualtroughs, who went to Johannesburg and surround in the early 1900s approx.

Specifically:

1. Contact with descendants of Emily Qualtrough Russell born England 1887, d/o Thomas Henry Russell & Elizabeth ??, who married Edward William Copeman in Rustenburg, Transvaal abt 1919 and had four children- Herold, Eileen, Dennis and Edwina (bn 1924) Copeman. The family farmed in the Rustenburg area however the farm was sold on the death of Emily in 1944, the father having left the family several years previous. The daughters more than likely married of course. Anyone who knows this family please contact me or get them to contact me please.

2.Contact with descendants of. John Qualtrough Watterson bn 1915 in Johannesburg, s/o Richard Watterson (bn 1875) & Letitia Taubman. He married Dorothy Helen Sears (bn 1918) in 1945 at Germiston. They had a daughter Colleen bn 1955 who is more than likely married. John Q Watterson died in Mondeor, Johannesburg in 1971.

3 Contact with descendants of John Samuel Qualtrough Watterson bn 1897 Port St Mary, Isle of Man. He was the son of Thomas Watterson & Ann Jane Qualtrough of Port St Mary. JSQW married Ellen Wehmeyer and was living in Orange Grove, Johannesburg in 1950. He died tragically in London, England in July 1950 when holidaying there. John was a school master and he and Ellen had one son John Ivor William Watterson who was a minor when his father died.

Any help or contact to create a family connection with SA descendants of these families would be most desirable and received with gratitude.
