1894 directory has:

24 Gallimore Charles, Sheffield bazaar

thus 8 had gone by 94, 20 + 22 also missing

in 81 census (heads only) we have (there is no #2)
VARLEY Emily B.4 Strand Street Tobacconist
CORKILL Peter 6 Strand Street Shoemaker Douglas
KNEALE Wm.Hy. 8 And 10 Strand Street Grocer & Wine Merchant
COWLEY Daniel 12 Strand Street Tailor & Draper
CLAGUE James 12a Strand Street Earthenware Dealer
CRELLIN Cath.14 Strand Street Fish Curer Wife
WEBB Samuel18 & 20 Strand Street Auctioneer
ELLIOT Thos.22 Strand Street Mariner
KILLEY Jas.Hy. 24 Strand St General Labour
(24 seems to have been a multiple occupation house )
22 would appear to be originally a 2 storey cottage that became part of M&S (now boots), 24 had a think the overhanging window visible on several photos.

the douglas centenary book states Webb's grand bazaar built late 1880's - my own thought is late 1870's

I'm still confused ! - there had to be a renumbering post 1876 when streets leading into Loch Prom were made - unfortuneately though I have many sheets of 25inch 1868 survey I'm missing that covering north of Duke st - I even have some of the 50 inch plans but not of Strand street - guess need wait until get some time in museum.
