It looks like 8 Strand Street in the 1861 census was renumbered as 16 Strand Street by 1863 (Thwaite's Directory) and was lost in the development of Marks and Spencer's new store in 1936 (14-20 Strand Street) (now Boots store) unless there was a further renumbering between 1863 and the development of Webb's Bazaar (around 1915/20?).
Number 12 seems to remain as an example of the same shop style from the mid-1800s for 14-20 Strand Street. It was Felice's cafe in the 1930s and is now occupied by Adam's children's clothing shop.
