Marna, in the 10 years since you posted this message, I’m wondering whether you managed to find Robert Edward Craine b 1843, son of Dr Robert Edward Craine and Elinor Isabella Kelly. I’ve been looking at this family in response to Jim Bruce’s message about the Craine photo album which he will be selling on ebay.

Robert Edward Craine b 1843 appears on Ancestry public member trees only as a son of REC and EIK, with no details of wife, children or death date, but by googling, I’ve found references to him which led to discovering him with his family in Scotland. Here are my notes:

REC b 1843 seems to have had no grandchildren.

It seems that the only children of Robert Edward Craine b 1813 who have living descendants are the 2 illegitimate ones, Thomas Craine b 1831 and Edwin Boyce Craine b 1849. The only evidence I can see for REC b 1813 being their father is that they both stated at their respective marriages that their father’s details were “Robert Edward Craine, surgeon”. I’ll write a separate note about Edwin b 1849 ----- I haven’t found any previous mention of him on this message board.
