Amazing. I wasn't going to request this one because it was Braddan (and I didn't want to be a pest), then at the last minute included it. So glad I did. I've never thought of a will being indexed in the wrong parish, but now we have one. I don't see it in MNB Summaries yet; have you decided which parish to put it in?
This helped solve the Kewley of Braid, at least for me. John Kewley of the 1724/25 will matches the following baptism:
FS Baptism Marown 1663: "John Kewlee the Sonne of John de Braide was Baptized the 16 Day of August 1663" and the burial: FS Burial Marown 1724/25: "John Kewley Braid March 20th".
His wife Alice still alive, may match this one not yet on MNB:
Will: KEWLEY, Alice 1731-2 Mar CROSS E w 0106372
Children:
1. John b abt 1690, bd 25 Oct 1723. Married Catharine Cowley 1717 Lezayre. Eldest child John ca 1718-1789 of the Braid. Second son Wm likely these:
FS Baptism Image Marown 1722: "Wm Kewley Son of John Braide July 11th"
FS Burial Image Marown 1725: "Wm Kewley Son of John Jun'r Braid April 30th"
2. Elizabeth / Isabel 1691-1725. FS Baptism Marown 1691: " Elizabeth Kewley Daughter of Jo: de Braide was Baptized the 21st of Feby 1691". Isabel Kewley was overseer of the children of John Kewley who died 1723. Elizabeth Kewley was one of the exec's of her father's March 1724/25 will where it's noted that she died about a "fortnight later". FS Burial Marown 1725: "Isable Kewley daugr of John Braid April 15th", which is about 3 weeks after her father's burial.
3. Robert b abt 1695 (or perhaps abt 1699 or perhaps 1703 which would make him the youngest) . Married Ann Garrett abt 1733, died 1784, which is a very old age. Discussed earlier.
4. William 1696/97 - 1716/17. FS Baptism Marown 1696[/97]: "Wm Kewley Son of Jo'n was Baptized the 19th of January 1696". FS Burial Marown 1716[/17]: "Wm Kewley Son of John Kewley Braid Jan'y 11".
5. John Junior 1701-1725. FS Baptism Marown 1701: "John Kewley the son of John (Brade) baptiz'd April 2d 1701". FS Burial Marown 1725: "John Kewley Jur'r of the Braid Oct 25th". He might be the "dumb boy in the house" in father's will, in which case he lived just 6 months longer than his father.
I see that both parents of John Kewley of the 1723 will were alive, so I wonder if the reference to wife Cath als Cowley to "her father + mother-in-law" refers to them rather than her Cowley parents. I made a feeble try to find Cath's parents but got tangled quickly and gave it up.
The two new summaries for John Kewley 1685 and Alice Kewley als Crellin fit really well to be the parents of John.
1685-1 A KEWLEY John d 20 Sep 1679;ch John(half crop etc), Robt, Nicholas, Elizth + Alice (last 4 jt execs - 3 at age) ;wife Alice
1688-2 E 796 KEWLEY Alice Crellin dated 26 Jul 1687;ch Robt, Nicholas, Elizth, Alice, John;unnamed dau-in-law; daus Eliz + Alice jt exexs;youngest child ua + in hands of bro nich?? [overleaf note that Jon Creere claims agt mo-in-law Christian Kewley for 6s yet behind of his portion
The only baptisms I have are:
FS Baptism Marown 1663: "John Kewlee the Sonne of John de Braide was Baptized the 16 Day of August 1663".
FS Baptism Marown 1671: "Robart Kewlee the Sonne of Joh: was Baptized the 1 of November 1671".
FS Baptism Marown 1675: "Nic: Kewlee the Sonne of John de bride [Brade?] was Baptized the 26 day of September 1675"
The only underage one would be Nicholas, so the phrase in Alice's that says "youngest child ua + in hands of bro nich?? " is probably not "nich".
