I believe that there is confusion here and it stems from the marriage of Gilbert Kennaugh in 1688. There is no entry in the Malew parish register for Gilbert, it shows as "William". He married Marriott Qualtrough (at Malew). If you look at the Will for Gilbert (1717) and Marriott (1734) all the children named are shown as born to Gilbert, not to William. I can find no marriage for Gilbert at all in this time frame, so presumably a recording error at the time of marriage?
