re Renaming of Inn - according to Lamplugh + Cummings the Iron mines around maughold Head started c.1836 and a few years later (early 1840's) were it seemed most productive employing 70 or so (not all would be miners as surface workers also needed) - in Maughold in 1841 there were 12 iron ore miners only 1 being Irish - 1 scot + 10 manx (in fact Irish are in very short supply in Maughold in 1841 with just 1 family + a couple of individuals) - do you have any ref for the influx of Irish miners?
